Project Code Rush
by Mike
I don’t think I can explain what code rush is better than it does on the website so:
Code Rush aired nationally on PBS in March 2000. It documents the Mozilla team as they struggle to publish the first open source release of the Netscape Browser. The film follows key players at a critical stage of the internet world’s development, as Netscape battles Microsoft and its hold over the majority of personal computer users.
I just watched this and it was pretty incredible, I never saw it in 2000(and I was just young enough then that I probably wouldn’t have been interested), but its quite the story and I think you should check it out. I have embedded it below.
So what is Project Code Rush? Its unreleased footage from the film(and the film itself) released from copyright. You can recut the movie, edit it in any way you like, basically do anything you want with it! Its a neat idea and a neat project, if the subject matter interests I recommend you check it out.
